IIW Resource Materials
IIW provides a unique online resource dedicated to welding and related information. Short abstracts of all IIW WU technical documents and published papers are accessible through the IIW Technical Database. Established in 1960 and available online since 2000, the Technical Database contains over 18,000 records, with a steady growth of around 5% per year.
Full text documents are free for Member Societies and their appointed Experts and Delegates, and accessible to the public for a small administration fee. Other publications, such as keynote conference lectures and
specific outstanding papers, are available as free content .
The IIW Collection of Books is authored by experts from the 59 countries participating in the work of the 23 Technical Working Units of the International Institute of Welding, recognized as the largest worldwide network for welding and allied joining technologies. Read more >
Welding In The World
The journal Welding in the World publishes authoritative papers on every aspect of materials joining, including welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, thermal spraying and allied joining and fabrication techniques.
The coverage spans a wide range of topics, including advances in joining processes; metallurgical and materials interactions associated with joining; engineering properties and assessment of joints; health and safety and environmental aspects of joining; industrial applications; performance of welded structure in service; testing of welds; quality assessment and education, training, qualification and certification. IIW-APP ISO 5817 Radiographs
The International Standard ISO 5817: 2003 „Welding; Fusion- welded joints in steel, nickel, titanium and their alloys (beam welding excluded); Quality levels for imperfections“ lists the quality requirements for production of arc welded steel joints. This international standard is a fundamental technical standard and specifies the basic standardized requirements for the evaluation of welded joints in the various fields of application of welding, such as pressure vessels, metal construction, piping, rolling stock etc. Furthermore, this standard shall be used as the basis for the evaluation of test pieces for the approval testing of welders and welding procedure qualification tests according to ISO-Standard. International Welding Thesaurus
This thesaurus consists of a list of 'preferred terms' and 'non-preferred terms' each with an indication of the keyword(s) to be used in indexing. It will also show relations between terms: 'broader terms' (BTs), 'narrower terms' (NTs) and 'related terms' (RTs). Many terms will include 'scope notes' (SNs) clarifying their intended use (the subject areas that they cover). firstname.lastname@example.org
